400ml Supreme Wax Polish - Forest Brown
Fiddes Supreme Wax Polish is suitable for use on interior wood, including furniture, shelving, skirting boards, architraves, dado rails and more. Based on an environmentally friendly blend of natural waxes, the clear and coloured formulations give a more traditional look to bare wood and a higher sheen to previously finished surfaces.
Formulated to offer excellent results on bare or sealed wood, Fiddes Supreme Wax Polish contains a unique, environmentally friendly blend of waxes that naturally enhances the beauty of your wood.
Supreme Wax is virtually odour free, easy to apply, and once buffed to the desired sheen level, provides a depth of finish that revives and protects any original patina.
- Quick Drying
- Low Aromatic
- Excellent Results On Bare Or Sealed Wood
Preparation
Ensure surfaces to be waxed are clean, dry and free from dust, dirt and any other surface contaminants prior to application.
- Fill any holes or gaps in the wood with wood filler
- Sand the wood with a medium sandpaper of around 120 grit, through to a medium / fine grit of 180 to 240 grit
- Sand in the direction of the grain where possible, ensuring the removal of any residual glue and blemishes from the surface of the wood
- Take care to remove all traces of sanding dust from the area to be waxed
- A coat of sanding sealer can be used on open grained woods prior to application of Supreme Wax Polish
Application
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
- Fiddes Wax Polish is best applied with a clean, lint-free cloth, stockinette or fine grade wire wool (which smooths the surface of the wood whilst waxing it at the same time)
- Apply sparingly, working on one small area at a time
- Leave the wax polish for around 10 minutes
- Buff as required to achieve desired sheen level as below:
- By hand - requires some work to achieve a high sheen level
- By drill buffing brush - let the bristles do the work. If you push down on the bristles they will start to soften and remove the wax from the surface of the wood
Please Note: Fiddes Supreme Wax Polish can easily turn from a wax to a thick liquid if exposed to warm temperatures, vibration in transit or if the tin is shaken. The wax can still be applied in this liquid state and is actually preferred by some customers. To get the wax to return to its solid state, simply stir and store in a cool place such as a garage or under stairs cupboard. Small tins of wax can be put into the fridge to solidify more quickly if required.
Aftercare
Regular Cleaning
Surfaces treated with Fiddes Supreme Wax Polish can be dry wiped with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove surface dust. For minor surface stains, scuffs and marks, wipe with a slightly dampened (not wet) cloth with water and Fiddes Floor Cleaner.
Maintenance
When maintaining pre-waxed wood it is advisable to use a clear wax (Fiddes have a very lightly tinted wax called 'Light' for paler, wood coloured surfaces and a wax with no pigment at all called 'Clear' for painted surfaces or for surfaces which require no colour change). Additional coats offer an improved patina and overall durability. Fresh wax coats can be applied annually or as required.
Repair
Coloured waxes are best used for repairing fine scratches, for example when a lighter shade is showing through. They are also used to change the colour of wood when the initial finishing process is done. The coloured waxes offer greater depth than the clear wax.
